I nearly asked you if you had read any of Niv's - seemed a natural progression! Dom is obsessed with the man - we were watching Bedroom Story a couple of nights ago (the original of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels). I hadn't realised the remake was almost identical scene for scene. Also, fascinated to see you have Dan Leno's autograph, I knew nothing about him until Dom directed Tony Lidington in Dan Leno - the King's Jester last year - such an influential figure in the history of Musical Hall and Pantomime. Sorry you're unable to get to Wind in the Willows but quite understand. Enjoy your reading ... let me know if you want to borrow anything else on DN - I think we have the complete library! All good wishes, Rosie G
Neal was born in Birmingham but it was an accident that led him back to his home town to create the BSC. He was looking for a theatre in which to base his fledgling company and remembered that in 1989 he had been shown round The Old Rep Theatre by the theatre manager. He was lucky that he second visit coincided with the arrival of a new manager, Neil Johnston, (and not just because his name was Neil). Mr Johnston was looking for a way to enhance the activity of the Old Rep and the two men's ambitions coincided perfectly. Neal moved his company into the theatre and the BSC was formed. Since then he has run the BSC as an actor/manager, appearing in many of the company's shows. He has most recently performed in their productions of TWELFTH NIGHT and SKELLIG (performing in New York, March 2011).
